About This Service

Types of lip fillers:

The most common type of filler used is hyaluronic acid and is used to plump and define lips. It creates the appearance of thick lips by attaching itself to water molecules in the skin.

How long do lip fillers last?

Depending on the brand of injection the patient receives, the results can last from 6 months to 12 months. The patient can receive repeated treatments every six months if desired.

Other things to note:

  1. After the procedure, lips feel no different than natural lips.
  2. You will see a nearly immediate result. The lips will swell a bit immediately following the procedure, but after 24-48 hours swelling begins to subside.
  3. Whereas lip implants give a permanent result, the results of lip injections typically last between 6-12 months.
  4. Lip injections require very little downtime, with patients who undergo injection returning to normal daily life right after the procedure.
  5. Minor bruising and swelling is common after injection. Patients can minimize these side effects by avoiding any medication that causes blood thinning for ten days prior to the procedure.
  6. For best results, refrain from consuming alcohol or exercising on the day of the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar protein that hydrates the skin by retaining water and providing structural support to skin tissues. They provide immediate visible improvements to the lips by smoothing wrinkles and plumping skin.

Can lip fillers look natural?

Yes. Our Master Injectors at The Aesthetic Center of SCS are highly skilled and experienced and pride themselves on their ability to produce natural-looking results.

Do lip fillers hurt?

Some patients may feel a slight discomfort when having this injectable treatment. We apply a local anesthetic to the treatment area to minimize discomfort.

How long do lip fillers last?

Most dermal filler treatments last six to eight months. We recommend additional treatments every six months to a year for patients who want to achieve year-round plumpness and structure in their lips.

How can I reduce swelling after receiving lip fillers?

Swelling is a completely normal side effect of lip injections and tends to last no more than two weeks. Icing the area will help ease any swelling, itching, bruising or pain that may occur as a result of the treatment.
