Karin Fuller, PA-C

Karin Fuller, PA-C grew up in New Site, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in General Science Education and Biological Sciences.  Karin spent over a decade teaching high school Biology, while simultaneously earning a master’s degree in General Science Education.  Her important role in shaping the minds of our youth was evidenced by being named the Auburn teacher of the year during her time there.

Karin then decided to make a significant career change and was accepted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program. UAB’s PA program is the second oldest in the country and is one of only two programs with a surgical focus. She was actively involved in UAB’s program, serving as class officer and supplemental student instructor for first year PA students. After graduating, Karin moved back to Auburn, Alabama and joined Skin Cancer Specialists, P.C. & Aesthetic Center.

In her free time, Karin enjoys reading and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Barney.

What is a Physician Assistant (PA)?

Physician Assistants (PA’s) are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. PA’s are educated and trained in the medical model, which is designed to complement physician training, at nationally accredited Physician Assistant programs. Following graduation from an accredited program, a PA must pass a national examination in order to become certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) and in order to receive a state license to practice. PA’s conduct physical examinations, order and interpret tests, and provide a broad range of both diagnostic and therapeutic services that include writing prescriptions and performing procedures.
