Blood Vessels and Redness Treatments

$125.00$350.00

Our redness and blood vessel lasers destroy the pigmented blood vessels responsible for the vascular condition. After these abnormal cells are eliminated, normal skin tone and color will be restored.  The laser has an adjustable spot size, which allows us to treat both deep and superficial lesions.

About This Service

How many treatments do I need?

It typically takes 2-4 treatments 2-4 weeks apart to achieve the desired improvement. However, the number of treatments will vary based on the size and color of the vascular lesion.

What should you expect?

Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure after treatment, and also use a wide spectrum sunblock for added protection.

Before your treatment:

  • Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment.
  • No sun-tanning or self-tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment (includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, and sun exposure).
  • Some medications or supplements may increase the risk. Please call our office with any questions.
  • Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment (waxing, depilatories, and harsh exfoliants).
  • Notify office with any changes to your health history or medications since your last visit.
  • History of herpes or cold sores may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment.

After your treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) with an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Bruising, redness, and swelling are common.
  • A “bug bite look” is common and usually resolves in 1-2 weeks.
  • Avoid heat from saunas hot tubs, or hot showers, for 1-2 days.
  • Avoid skin irritants (retinol, benzoyl-peroxide, glycolic, salicylic acids, astringents, etc) for a few days post-treatment.
  • Notify clinic of any concerns (blistering, excessive redness/swelling).

Frequently Asked Questions
What do our redness and blood vessel lasers treat?

Our lasers are most effective for removing spider veins (small dilated vessels) from the face, and cherry angiomas (small red spots on the face and body). These lesions often clear with only 1-2 treatments.
Our redness lasers can also help fade red or raised scars, “port wine stain” birthmarks, and red discoloration of the face from rosacea over the course of multiple treatments.

How does the laser work?

The laser emits a burst of light tuned precisely to target the red pigment in blood and blood vessels without harming other parts of the skin. Therefore, this laser can remove dilated blood vessels while leaving the surrounding area unaffected.

Does this laser treatment hurt?

Most patients describe a mild stinging sensation. No anesthetic is needed.

What will the skin look like after treatment?

The areas treated often turn pink to slightly red. Occasionally, small areas may turn a purple or blue color (particularly in port wine stain treatment) that can last for about a week. Makeup can generally be used after 24 hours.
